Commodity Manager, Indirect

As Commodity Manager – Indirect (non-production), you are responsible for the procurement of Indirect goods and services. Your strong negotiation skills will support quality and cost savings objectives. The position is responsible for leveraging spend across the business, creating and executing strategic cost savings projects and driving out cost. The position is responsible for maintaining and managing the suppliers within your indirect portfolio, ensuring internal stakeholders are complying with the Purchasing processes, while also leading contract management process and supporting aggressive working capital goals.

 

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Initiate, develop and implement business strategy for the assigned commodity fieldCollaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Initiate, plan, coordinate and control demand pooling, drive pooling enhancement and ensure the implementation of a process to ascertain savings gained from the pooling strategy
  • Negotiate commercial and legal terms and conditions of contracts
  • Research materials and suppliers to lead key supplier negotiations
  • Serve as a leader and subject matter expert for multiple procurement- and business-led projects and initiatives
  • Ensure participation and optimization of strategic preferred suppliers
  • Manage, measure, and improve appropriate reporting metrics and data analysis for indirect commodities
  • Manage supply base and supplier relationships; develop new supply sources as needed
  • Communicate strategies and solutions to colleagues, internal stakeholders and suppliers in order to achieve financial goals, RFQ timelines and liaise between internal and external
  • Prepare and send RFQ/RFIs for commodity sourcing projects; obtain quotes, examine bids, grants awards and contracts
  • Perform financial analysis and material specification benchmark of RFQ results to determine overall cost competitiveness and make sourcing recommendations based upon RFI and RFQ results

 

Your Profile

Type of required functional knowledge (depth, breadth):

  • Recognized Bachelor/Master Degree with a strong technical background in Industrial environment
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in a high volume production environment 
  • Perennial work experience in Indirect Purchasing and Purchasing Processes (Administration, Services, MRO, IT, Transportation & Logistics, or Facilities and infrastructure management)
  • Core skills must include sourcing market knowledge, contract negotiation, price negotiation, and strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost estimating, as well as fiscal management principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of SCM processes
  • Demonstrated background and proven experience with RFQ processes, data analysis, supplier evaluation and commodity management
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including, but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook
  • Fluent in English and mandarin
  • Excellent moderation and presentation skills
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, with multi-cultural teams 
  • Provides feedback and listens to feedback

 

Type and length of experience required for the position:

  • 5+ years of experience in various functions and several areas of SCM - Procurement including cross-functional exposure gained within other functional areas. Proven track-record in leading a strategic procurement function in a global environment
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic SCM - Procurement
  • 3+ years of functional and disciplinary leadership responsibility. Demonstrated general management ability to lead a global/regional organization
