Data Engineer (f/m/d)
A Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains systems for collecting, storing, and processing large volumes of data. They develop and optimize data pipelines, ensure data quality and reliability, and enable analytics and machine learning by providing clean, structured datasets. This role requires strong skills in programming (e.g., Python, SQL), data modeling, and experience with big data and cloud technologies.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage
- Develop and maintain data infrastructure including databases, data lakes, and warehouses
- Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Ensure data quality through validation, cleansing, and monitoring processes
- Implement security measures and compliance standards for data handling
- Collaborate with source developers, data scientists, analysts, and business teams to deliver structured datasets
- Monitor and troubleshoot data systems, resolving issues promptly
- Automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency through scripting and tools
- Create and maintain clear documentation
- Define and enforce coding standards and operational guidelines
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements for scalability and performance
- Document incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and their implementation beneficial
- Good spoken and written language skills both in English and German
- Intercultural competences due to international cooperation
- Good communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Documentation skills – able to clearly summarize and document processes and validation results
