Section Manager Operation R&D Prototyping

In your role, you will manage and further develop mid-sized R&D prototyping operations and projects, ensuring full alignment with AT&S’s innovation and technology roadmap. You are responsible for the operational excellence of the R&D Line, including people leadership, equipment responsibility, and cross‑functional coordination. You will drive technical progress, ensure timely delivery of R&D prototypes, and take ownership of budget, resources, timelines, and intellectual property while acting as a key interface to internal and external stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities

Lead and manage the R&D Line Operation team
Plan, control, and optimize R&D line operations considering resources, Q-times, and priorities
Ensure timely production of R&D lots and fulfillment of internal and external prototyping requests
Align closely with R&D Line Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and production departments
Coordinate preventive maintenance planning and execution with maintenance teams
Manage R&D projects with responsibility for budget, resources, timelines, and results
Represent AT&S toward customers, partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders
Ensure protection of intellectual property and freedom-to-operate for developed technologies

Your Profile

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
Proven experience in R&D, ideally with leadership or project management responsibility
Strong background in process engineering within IC-Substrate, IC-Packaging, Assembly, or similar industries
Solid knowledge of quality and data analysis tools (SPC, DOE, FMEA, MSA, JMP, Minitab)
Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and set clear priorities
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with an open-minded mindset
Fluent in spoken and written English (German is an advantage)
Willingness to travel
